Scholarships for Students with Health Conditions:  There are multiple websites with scholarship applications for students with a variety of health conditions.
***FAFSA***
Most colleges require a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for each student considering any type of financial help or scholarships from their institution.  Seniors may complete the FAFSA online beginning as early as October 1.  The money is awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama- Harland Jones Scholarship Fund- $20,000 ($5,000 per year for 4 years).

 

Linly Heflin Scholarship
The Linly Heflin Scholarship Committee grants 4 year scholarships in the amount of $3,000 per year to a limited number of Alabama women who have both significant economic need and a sound academic record.  Certain requirements must be met:

  • Scholarships are restricted to 4 year Alabama, SACS accredited colleges.
  • The minimum ACT score must be 23. 
  • It is for Alabama and US citizens only.
  • Financial need.
  • Academic proficiency.  Applications can be downloaded and must be postmarked by January10.  www.linlyheflin.org

Playing With Purpose Award
Scholarships of up to $14,000 are available to Christian Student Athletes.  Athletes must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Currently a high school sophomore, junior, or senior.
  • Maintains a minimum “C” average or higher
  • Currently a varsity level athlete in one or more sports

Smith Foundation Scholarship
This foundation is designed to fund college scholarships for deserving students throughout Alabama. 

  • It is for graduating high school seniors who must have at least a C average and who are planning to attend a four-year public college in the state of Alabama.

 

  • Nursing majors may attend an accredited two year institution
  • The student must also have worked significantly with family and/or community and must have taken the ACT. 

 


DAR’s scholarships

  • Scholarship for students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science and English.

  • Awards are placed on deposit with the recipient’s college or university and any unused portion shall be returned to the DAR.
  • Applicants are only eligible to receive one scholarship from the DAR

CollegeCounts Scholarship

Poarch Creek Community Scholarship Fund: Annually, The Poarch Creek Indian Community Scholarship  will award a minimum of one scholarship to a male and one scholarship to a female.   The following is considered when evaluating the Poarch Creek Community Scholarship applications:

  • Must be a resident of the State of Alabama or from the following counties in Florida: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington or Gadsden
  • Must have a 3.0 minimum high school GPA
  • Academic merit, community involvement and other factors, such as financial need and/or workforce demand, will be taken into consideration when reviewing applications.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship

  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for graduating high school seniors;
  • Students enrolled full-time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring/Summer 2020, with plans to enter college no later than the Fall following graduation OR students enrolled full-time as a college freshman or sophomore, no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2020, and progressing normally toward a bachelor’s degree;
  • All applicants must reside (permanent home address) in one of the following states or the District of Columbia: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware or New Jersey;

United Health Foundation Louis Stokes Scholarship

  • $10,000 scholarship
  • Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited academic institution
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a health-related field
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent U.S. residency, and desire a qualifying primary health care profession

  • Award: One prize of $1,000.
  • Eligibility: Current high-school seniors who have a parent presently serving in law enforcement, a retired law enforcement official, or a law enforcement official who has passed away.

Rover Scholarship
Answer our scholarship question in 400 - 500 words. How did caring for a pet growing up help shape you to be the adult you are today?

  1. Put your answer in a Google doc, with your name and year in college at the top (high school seniors allowed).
  2. You need to be a resident of the United States.
  3. You must be a graduating high school senior or currently a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college in pursuit of a associates degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree. We reserve the right to verify date of high school graduation and/or university enrollment.
  4. If you're a graduating high school senior, your GPA must be 3.0 or above.
  5. If you're in college, your GPA must be 3.0 or above. If you’re in graduate school, you must either have a 3.0 GPA or above or a “Pass” in a Pass/Fail grading system.

PB&J Scholarship

  • Amount: $500 – $1,000
  • The PB&J scholarship awards students who have experienced challenges in their life that may not have allowed them to perform well academically but still have the drive to succeed.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Exceptional student leaders are invited to apply for the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program.  In honor of the legacy and character of President Ronald Reagan, this program annually rewards up to 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships (up to $40,000 per recipient).  Applications will be Accepted online at: www.reaganfoundation.org/GE-RFScholarships.aspx
Veterans Car Donations Annual Scholarship
STEM Students
According to the Department of Education, STEM fields of study include computer sciences, engineering, mathematics, natural sciences (including physical, biological, and agricultural sciences), and related fields. Related fields involve research, innovation, and/or the development of new technologies using the aforementioned fields of study.
Veteran Car Donations will award the selected student applicant $1,000 to be used toward his or her degree. In addition, Veteran Car Donations will award a $250 textbook scholarship to the two runners-up.
Qualifications
To qualify, undergraduate students must be majoring in a STEM field of study (or related field) as well as attending an accredited college or university.
